Keynote Speech cum Thematic Session A: Catalysing Societal Change for a Greener Future

Ms Peggy Liu is Chairperson of Joint US-China Collaboration on Clean Energy (JUCCCE), an NGO at the heart of the greening of China since 2007. Named the "Green Goddess of China" by Chinese press and “Hero of the Environment” by Time, she is one of the most impactful environmentalists globally. She catalysed China’s leaps into cleantech, Smart Grid, ecocities, efficient lighting, green bonds, and sustainable diets.

Peggy’s work spans global borders and industries to shape societies for the better. Her efforts have helped a billion and a half people leapfrog towards personal and planetary health. She was awarded the "Hillary Step", the "Nobel" for climate change solutionists.

Peggy will share lessons from how her NGO JUCCCE helped China successfully tackle tough environmental health challenges to become a surprise global leader in sustainability. What can other societies learn from China’s transformation? How can individuals catalyse societal-scale change?
