Mr Xu is the Chairman of the Narada Foundation, the Vice President of the China Charity Alliance, and the Honorary Chairman of the China Foundation Centre. He is also a researcher at the Counsellors’ Office of the State Council of the PRC. He was a member of the Ninth and Tenth National Committees of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC).

Mr Xu founded the China Youth Development Foundation after he resigned from the post of the head of China’s Communist Youth League Central Committee in 1988. He also founded Project Hope, which has been recognised as the most influential philanthropic brand in China. In 2007, he co-founded the Narada Foundation with Narada Group’s President Zhou Qingzhi to promote social innovation for public good in China.

With over 25-year experience in charity sector, he has contributed tremendously to the development of philanthropy in China. He is the Chief Editor of two books China’s Third Sector Study Series and Inquiry of the World – Project Hope in Xu Yongguang’s eyes. In recent years, he has been committed to bring structural reform in China’s philanthropy sector by founding the China Foundation Centre to increase transparency and credibility of charitable foundations in China.
